Side chair with double-arched crest rail; urn-shaped splat; curved stiles continuing into canted back legs; upholstered horseshoe seat; cabriole front legs with inverted leaf carvings on the knees, and pad feet.

Savery, William, 1721 or 1722-1787

William Savery was possibly apprenticed to Solomon Fussell of Philadelphia between 1735 to 1741. He advertised regularly in Philadelphia papers between 1750 and 1772 and was probably working until his death in 1787. It is not known whether he himself carved the items he constructed.
